Sometimes, merely having affordable units isn’t enough for entitlements. At this planning meeting, it came down to MFI percentages.
Displacement, affordability, and the S.M.A.R.T. housing delivery flew around the room. 600 multifamily residences with 300 affordable units for families at 60% and 80% of the regional median family income may seem like a lot to some. But to Commissioner Llanes Pulido, there was more on the table.
We are constructing tons of new housing, but not for the people who need it the most. And I think that there's a better use of this land with some of the tools, some of the housing bond money, we can do a hell of a lot better than 5% at 60 MFI for Montopolis, I'll be voting against.
